Northampton, September 6th 2007: A number of local councils are now enforcing external alarm notification orders on local residents in an attempt to reduce noise nuisance. South Bedfordshire District Council is the latest to invoke new powers granted to local authorities in the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
£1000 fine if residents fail to register a key holder with the service
The notification order, designed to deal with annoyance by audible alarms in their areas,
dictates that residents with such systems must provide their local council with details of where keys are held in their absence. Under this new order, homeowners can be fined up to £1000 if they fail to register a key holder.
Intamac understands many residents resent further interference by the authorities in their lives and are also reluctant to hand over such sensitive information. This is despite assurances by councils such as South Bedfordshire that such information will be stored under the strictest conditions and can only be seen by authorised officers that have had criminal record checks.
21st century monitoring contacts homeowners directly
Intamac Systems believes that working directly with friends, family and your neighbours is actually the key to better security and community relations and in light of this have developed a number of inexpensive internet-based home monitoring services that allow property owners more control over to their own lives
Intamac Home Manager, for instance, allows for homeowners or people that they nominate such as neighbours, friends and family to be contacted immediately by email, phone or text should any sensors be activated in their property. This gives them the option to alert police or private guarding services without the need for intrusive audible alarms and the notification of local councils.
Webcam and recording option
The system even allows for the attachment and activation of webcams so any householder or nominee with access to a MMS phone or PC can see exactly what is going at the property in real time and record any event as it happens.
“This approach is much more in tune with the 21st century,” says Kevin Meagher, CEO of Intamac Systems. “Mobile phones and other technologies such as email are now pervasive and so those designated can be contacted instantly. Noisy alarm boxes are now unnecessary and belong to a long-gone age when policemen summoned assistance by blowing on whistles.”
Good Neighbour Service
In addition, Intamac users can take advantage of its Good Neighbour Service which provides neighbours with a phone number and unique property reference and if the homeowner needs to be contacted they simply phone the number and leave a message. This message is then stored on the Intamac platform and the homeowner is informed immediately by phone, email or text that they have a new alert for their property.
Key Holder Service
Intamac’s Key Holding Service also allows homeowners to leave their keys and alarm PIN codes with Group 4 Securicor when they go away. If the alarm is activated a guard will secure the property from the inside and reset the alarm, contacting the emergency services if required.
Kevin Meagher, CEO of Intamac Systems comments, “The Intamac Home Manager service allows homeowners to be in control of both their security and privacy. Our service ensures that if an alarm is activated somebody will always be able to respond whilst keeping the homeowner informed of exactly what is going on and without creating any noise nuisance.”
