Intamac uses Internet to help homeowners prevent flood damage and secure properties in their absence

Alert System enables early action to deal with effect of more extreme weather conditions.

Northampton, July 27th 2007: Intamac Systems’ award winning Internet-based Home Manager service now offers homeowners a new way of ensuring they are able to take early and immediate action protect their family and possessions in the event of flooding and secure their homes should they be forced to leave.

In total, the Environment Agency has estimated that 5 million homes (25 per cent of the total) live in flood risk areas in England and Wales. Over the past few weeks thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes amid severe flooding across England and Wales. The havoc currently being caused in the Severn, Thames, Avon and Ouse valleys is in addition to the devastation caused in the Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield, and Hull areas earlier in the year.  The cost to insurers of this flood damage, according to latest estimates from credit rating agency Fitch Ratings is £3 Billion

Early warning sensors and remote alert via phone, SMS, email

Yet for an ongoing cost of as little as £5 a month, homeowners can have an Internet-based early warning system that ensures valuable time is available for the families to remove their possessions and to establish flood defense barriers around the home.  The system is also able to monitor for intrusion and movement within the home, should the householder be forced to leave the property.

The Intamac Home Manager service ensure that if water comes into contact with a flood sensor Home Manager raises the alarm by sending alert messages to up to six nominated contacts by telephone, SMS text message and email. Contacts are alerted in priority order to ensure that somebody is always able to respond to the emergency.

Protection even if the property is vacated

Kevin Meagher, CEO of Intamac Systems comments, “Global warming is bringing with it rising sea levels and more extreme weather conditions such as we have seen recently so the risk of deluge will undoubtedly increase.  The Intamac Home Manager provides home owners with an invaluable early warning of flooding which can be delivered to them wherever they are in the world so that they can return home or alert friends, family and the authorities to take action to prevent damage to their property.

“Should they have to subsequently leave the property then the Intamac Home Manger service will protect their home in their absence. We even allow the homeowner to view remotely through inexpensive IP Cameras and via PC or MMS-enabled mobile phones exactly what is happening in and around their home,” he emphasises.  “Intamac Home Manager has the potential to prevent a large amount of damage and so reduce insurance claims and premiums accordingly - that’s why we are currently in discussions with the insurance industry and our system is being adopted by one of the world’s largest insurance companies.”
