"It’s always a bit disconcerting to get a phonecall in
the middle of the night, but sometimes it’s worthwhile. I
got one on Tuesday morning at 12:50, and it was from Intamac Home
Manager. I knew better than to ignore it, so I checked my email
to find that a water sensor had been activated. I only have one
fitted, which I put in when I built the new kitchen. I put it next
to the water softener, which had caused me a problem once before,
but pretty much forgotten about it as it had been about three years
ago. Sure enough, upon looking, there was a spreading pool of water,
coming from one of the connecting hoses. Since this is under mains
pressure, it was a potential disaster waiting to greet us in the
morning, but the early warning I had been given allowed me to close
the shut-off valve, clear up, and go back to bed.
I fixed it the next day (new spigot), and put another water sensor
in next to the washing machine. You never know, but Intamac Monitoring
does! Thanks, everyone, you saved me a great deal of trouble and
expense."
